Diy attic truss shelves.
I first screwed the back support boards for each shelf into the studs.
Cut the perpendicular boards to form the sides of the storage units.
First you need two 2 x 4 boards with a length equal with the distance between the attic floor and 2 above the rafters.
Install back base 2x4 the base pieces are full 8 lengths of 2x4 studs.
Prepare shelf uprights the shelf uprights are cut from 2x4 s so that they are 15 1 2 long.
Easy diy storage shelves for attic or garage.
Attic spaces are amazing for creating a walk in closet and you will easily accommodate all your things there.
I followed this tutorial by ana white which is an easy and cost effective way to make basic wood shelving for an attic basement or garage.
Start by attaching the back base board.
This is especially handy for puffy winter jackets that seem to take up half of the coat closet.
Add a rod instead.
Make sure you shelves are 11 1 2 wide first and cut the supports to match for example you buy 12 wide shelving then you would cut the supports at 12 long.
Cut 1x1 pieces to fit across two for each shelf on the unit and screw them into place using the marks you made.
Screw the supports to the legs.
If you are lucky enough to have plenty of standing room you can simply bring up or build stand alone shelving.
Attic clothes and shoes storage.
Like many people the attic is a neglected area when it comes to organization.
If you ve got a slanted ceiling or roof line shelves can be tough.
These marks are to the tops of the supports.
They will be your shelves front supports.
These will support your shelves.
Make wall mounted boxes and shelves to fit under the roof.
Order built in under the eaves compartments and drawers for clothes and shoes.
There are lots of ways to add shelving and it all depends on the amount of space you have to work with and the pitch and angle of your rafters and roof.
Using 10d nails nail the boards vertically to the rafters in such a way that one board end be on the floor and the other against the rafter side.
After that mark on the vertical boards the distance you ve planned out between the shelves.
Then measure each of the legs and mark as shown above.
Make sure temporary dimensionsare toggled on click the select objectsbutton then click on the attic truss to select it.
Two sets of pocket.
